Speaker Kevin Shatzkamer - Vice President, Service Provider Strategy and Solutions, Infrastructure Solutions Group, Dell EMC
The industry “crossroads” for Communication Service Providers (CoSP) is well-known and well-understood – technology, operational, and business drivers are fueling dramatic industry transformation. There are new levels of competition, with hyperscale environments running in the lead. Unending demands from IoT and 5G are imminent and coming up faster than can be imagined. At the core of these advancements is disaggregation and composability, which is how leading hyperscale providers are iterating and innovating.
The goal is to unlock value in a large application, like a network function, and to disaggregate it into a set of composable services. To embrace and leverage microservices, operational architectures require a transformation, while building technology skill sets. The second iteration of NFV (NFV2.0), will drive the industry towards a microservices-based architecture.
This keynote will explore the history of network virtualization, provide a “reality-check” on where the industry is today, and help set some guidelines that ensure the industry reaches the critical milestones and objectives originally driving the CoSP industry towards virtualization to begin with.
