Eng. Abdullah is one of the STC executive Vice Presidents with wide-ranging experiences in all aspects of Network technical, business operations and management. He carries full responsibility for the Network Sector and all its different activities, spanning six coherent departments. He now leads over 3300 STC Engineers and managers, in addition to a large pool of dedicated international consultants. He holds senior positions within STC and its group companies. He is currently the chairman of the Board of Directors for “Viva Bahrain” company. He is also a Board Member of ”STC Gulf Investment Holding SPV”. In March 2013, Eng. Abdullah was elected to become the “Vice President” in charge of the Network Sector, where he continues to focus on driving down costs while improving efficiency and customer experience. In this capacity, he joined the STC Executive team to ensure complete development and delivery of STC’s corporate strategy, as well as designing a new streamlined organization. He is responsible for the delivery of Mobile and Fixed Broadband strategies, and leads all functions for delivering these strategies. His stated mission was to build a streamlined Network Sector organization based on specialized and highly skilled teams, excellent network and service delivery and with strict adherence to STC’s corporate goals and objectives. In 2007, as a “General Manager” for Network Design Department, Eng. Abdullah took the opportunity to lead the strategic activities within the network sector while delivering an ambitious program of mobile and fixed broadband network deployment (including first launch of 4G services in KSA). This required him to apply modern leadership skills to deliver advanced design and engineering solutions for the new broadband networks. In 2003, he held the position of “Network Planning and Forecasting Director”. In this role, he was responsible for the planning and management of STC’s strategic Network Expansion and Migration, supported by several multi-national consultancy firms. He made sure that network plans achieved STC’s commercial aims and objectives. He was instrumental in pioneering the introduction of 3G services to KSA market, ahead of competition. Eng. Abdullah graduated from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1998. He started his career with Lucent Technologies, and subsequently moved to work for STC to fulfil his long held ambition of leading all network activities within STC.
