Faraz Shafiq is the global IoT practice leader responsible for Verizon’s enterprise IoT (Internet of Things) strategy, analytics and enablement. His key responsibilities include leading the long term IoT portfolio strategy, analytics, customer experience, professional services and IoT go-to-market.

Faraz Shafiq joined Verizon with more than 14 years of progressive experience in technology strategy, engineering, advance analytics, professional services and product management.

In his current role, Mr. Shafiq is developing and executing on the enterprise IoT business strategy and supporting product roadmap and go-to-market initiatives for Verizon enterprise solutions. His responsibilities include positioning Verizon as a leader in providing enterprise IoT solutions and services, leading the global IoT practice for strategy and enablement, leading the IoT analytics strategy, supporting the digital advisory and the customer experience practice, supporting the product portfolio and managing strategic partnerships.

Mr. Shafiq also serves as an executive advisor to 5G-Map in Poland and serves on the board of a silicon valley based machine learning startup. Mr. Shafiq is an established and regular industry speaker and is viewed as a thought leader for IoT, Analytics and 5G.

Previously, Mr. Shafiq was the lead for AT&T IoT product development and management. He was instrumental in formulating the IoT analytics strategy and offerings, IoT platform strategy and services, marketing support, driving the adoption and engagement for IoT, building and managing framework applications, and formulating strategic partnerships. Previously Mr. Shafiq led the AT&T Big Data advertising vertical with focus on the Big Data strategy and operations for the targeted marketing. Mr. Shafiq started off as a principal engineer for network engineering and played key roles in evolving AT&T network infrastructure to 4G and setting the stage for NFV/SDN.  He has also led internal consulting projects for AT&T through six sigma operations excellence initiatives.

Mr. Shafiq holds an MBA from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He also teaches Data Science and Strategy as well as Applied Innovation as a part time instructor at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Mr. Shafiq lives in northern California and works out of Verizon’s San Francisco innovation center.
