Oğuz Sunay is the Chief Architect at Open Networking Foundation where he leads the service provider-driven M-CORD project, built on the pillars of open source, SDN, NFV, and cloud, aiming to drive the transformation of wireless network infrastructure and carrier business models on the path towards 5G. Prior, Dr. Sunay was the Chief Technology Officer at Argela-USA where he was the innovator of a Programmable Radio Access Network Architecture (ProgRAN) for 5G that enabled the world's first dynamically programmable RAN slicing solution. In this capacity, he has led the efforts in architecting and developing PoCs for ProgRAN, including PoCs for enterprise use cases as well as initiating lab and field trials with many service providers around the world. Dr. Sunay has also held prior positions at Nokia Research Center and Bell Laboratories where he conducted and managed research on 3G, wireless packet data and wireless location technologies. He has also extensively participated in various 3GPP committees during this time. Dr. Sunay holds over 40 US and European patents on various aspects of 3G, 4G and 5G. In addition, he has authored over 15 patent applications on various aspects of the ProgRAN architecture since 2015.
