Muhammad Ali Babar Abbasi is a Lecturer with the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI) at Queen's University Belfast (UK). He joined CWI as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2017, where he worked on the project Low-complexity processing for mm-Wave massive MIMO, funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). He completed his PhD under the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship from Frederick University, Cyprus in 2017. He has authored and co-authored over 40 research papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings. He is a volunteer reviewer in multiple highly cited journals in the field of Antennas, Propagation and Microwave device physics. His research interests include applied electromagnetics, mm-wave antennas for massive MIMO, phased arrays, lens based beamformers, passive and active antennas for biomedical devices, wireless sensors, and reconfigurable RF electronics. Dr Babar Abbasi is the 2019 Grand Prize winner of the GSMA Mobile World Scholar Challenge held at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona.
