Rohit Mehra is IDC's Vice President of Network Infrastructure, leading IDC's research practice in Enterprise and Datacenter Networks, and Telecom Infrastructure. He provides expert insight and analysis into global industry and technology trends as they relate to enterprise, datacenter, cloud and telecom networks including areas such as Ethernet switching, routing, wireless, application delivery and WAN Optimization, amongst other technology domains. His breadth of coverage allows him to take a holistic view of network infrastructure- from enterprise mobility and BYOD, to cloud-scale networking. In this capacity, he is responsible for market share and forecast reports as well as global go-to-market strategies.
Key areas of his research include the ongoing digital transformation of enterprise IT, Cloud Service Providers and Telecom SPs, and the related transition to software based platforms and technologies. As part of his research on network evolution, Mr. Mehra covers current and emerging trends in converged systems and infrastructures, network virtualization and the broader areas of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV).
Before joining IDC in early 2010, Mr. Mehra spent more than 15 years at several enterprise and telecom network infrastructure providers. He has held senior and executive positions at Verisign, 3Com, a wireless startup (Bluesocket), prior to which he spent several years at Nortel and Bay Networks covering product management and marketing, strategy and market development. He has extensive product lifecycle and global market development experience, and is a well known industry expert.
