Alioune started his career in industry with Pechiney and then joined Sonatel in 1988. First he was working on audit and controlling which led him to participate to the work on privatizing the firm. He was then appointed Chief Financial Officer. In 2002 he becomes the CEO of Ikatel in Mali which becomes Orange Mali and which he leads for 10 years. in 2012 he is promoted to Sonatel CEO, which gathers Orange in Senegal, Mali, Guinee-Bissau and Sierra Leone. Since 2nd May 2018, Alioune is the CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa.
