Calvin Collett

Supersonic’s energetic leader, Calvin Collett is an entrepreneur from his epicentre has formed a fundamental role in the business of software and systems support across the South African IT sector. From his first role as software support specialising in Y2K readiness for Status Medical Aid post his graduation from Pretoria Boys High School, Calvin’s career took off when made a name for himself at Accenture, then the Automobile Association and finally, was retained as the software support specialist by Getronics.

Calvin then needed to take a break from his career as he consolidated his family’s businesses post the death of his father and during this time, established iConnect that focussed on quality, voice connectivity solutions – which progressed to the emerging VoIP sector. Due to its exponential growth and the need to be in the commerce capital, the business was moved to Fourways, Johannesburg in 2008.

In a short space of time, Calvin’s business had grown to an entire network which naturally received significant interest from the likes of Telco giant, MTN. Calvin was unsurprisingly headhunted by the leading African network to turn around their ‘fibre to the home’ business (then Smart Village), from the captain’s chair, with a ‘renewed focus and direction’; and name – Supersonic.

Cavin’s lives with his young family in Paarl and enjoys cycling & playing golf.
