Botlenyana Mokhele brings a wealth of experience in broadcasting policy processes and regulation from a career spanning over two decades. Prior to being appointed to the ICASA Council she was a principal consultant at Pygma Consulting in Johannesburg.
Her expertise lies mainly in research, broadcasting policy and programme management. Before becoming a consultant, she was the acting chief director in the office of the director general at the Department of Communications (DoC). Prior to this, she was responsible for the monitoring and implementation of the government information and communications technology (ICT) guarantees for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Before her engagement with the DoC, she was the deputy executive director of the National Association of Broadcasters and manager: broadcasting policy research and development at ICASA. During her tenure in both positions, she contributed towards a number of broadcasting policy and ICT legislative processes.
Botlenyana has a master’s degree in public policy from the University of the Witwatersrand. She also holds an Honours degree in counselling psychology and a postgraduate diploma in information policy from UNISA, a postgraduate diploma in telecommunication studies from the Cable and Wireless College and an advanced project management diploma from Damelin College.
