Emily O’Ryan Politics Student at Stellenbosch University


Emily O’Ryan is a politics student at Stellenbosch University and will graduate in December 2018 with a BA (International Studies). In November – December 2017, she gained insights as an intern analyst at BrandsEye, where she used social media for sentiment analytics. She is the current Online Editor for Stelllenbosch University’s student newspaper (Die Matie) after serving as a journalist for the past year.
Following her passion for social justice, restoration and politics, Emily has participated in the African Leadership Development Programme (run by the FVSZ Institute), as well as the 3rd Annual International Youth Leadership Conference Africa in Cape Town more recently. She is a committee member of Adventures into Citizenship, a youth development programme which hosts 50 high schoolers from across South Africa to provide insights into Civics in Cape Town and promote social integration. Emily is the incoming President of the Rotaract Club of Stellenbosch, the youth branch of Rotary International, one of the largest service organisations in the world.
