Gift ZowaChief Technical Officer at Infraco
In 1994 Gift Zowa studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering (B.Sc Hons). In 1995 he became a member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers. He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers (UK). Zowa registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA in 1996. In 2002 he achieved an MBA from the University of Pretoria.
Zowa started his career with Siemens Telecommunications. Thereafter he became the head of telecommunications at the state-owned Sentech, designing and running the MyWireless data communication product. He then took up a position in Nokia Siemens Networks as the head of Mobile Broadband for Africa and the Middle East. His final move was to Broadband Infraco as the CTO.
My role spans the entire technology sphere at Broadband Infraco, from the technical strategy to rolling out projects and their subsequent maintenance, as well as managing a large team. I spend much of my time assimilating network metrics and the broader operating environment to allow a relevant strategy formulation and implementation thereof. It is important to remain relevant in the market as well as for the operating environment. As an organization, we need to answer the following underlying questions: Does it solve our and customers problems into the future, cost effectively? Does it comply with shareholder expectations? And of course, does it fit in with our strategy?"
