Hanlie started her career in the ICT sector when she joined NASPERS before moving to MNET and Multichoice. With the acquisition of the licence, she joined MTN at start-up and held different roles in the organisation varying from heading up the programme office consisting of business analysis, project management, data analysis and training. Progressing to head of customer experience and at the forefront of the impact of the digital world, she proceeded into heading up the product and digital team at MTN SA reporting to the CMO. She is currently seconded to the MTN Joint Venture, aYo, for the design and implementation of a special telco insurance product across the MTN operations in Africa. Through a deeper understanding of the digital and adjacent ecosystems, she champions the transformation of the traditional telco model and the need for collaboration in order to see the growth of network traffic and increased revenues.
Hanlie is also actively involved in developing young leaders in the community and promotes leadership skills through seminars, coaching and mentoring. Her passion for and active involvement in the academic world includes study leader of Masters, MBA and PhD students, external examiner and moderator for multiple universities and business schools, and member of conference programme and journal review boards. She has published several papers and book chapters in the knowledge management and IT outsourcing fields.
