Senior Private Sector Specialist at The World Bank


Natasha Kapil is a Senior Private Sector Specialist in the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit of the World Bank Group's Trade & Competitiveness Global Practice. Natasha brings 15 years of operational experience and lessons from the Europe & Central Asia  region’s thriving I&E portfolio. As founding member of the ECA innovation team, she led the VPU’s flagship Knowledge Economy Fora; contributed to regional and national analytical report series; and led the design of groundbreaking I&E projects in Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Western Balkans, and EU member states. She has worked on the full suite of operational products and initiated the use of externally funded outputs with clients and donors around issues of growth, competitiveness and jobs, innovation and entrepreneurship at the regional, national, and agency levels. Recently, Natasha has supported capacity-building of national technology innovation agencies in Serbia and Poland; piloted incentive structures that enable critical risk taking by both public and private sector actors; designed systemic approaches to national science and research sector reform, technology transfer and commercialization, while integrating impact evaluation into I&E program design. Natasha brings a strong commitment to delivering client solutions and is an avid advocate of piloting and evidence-based policymaking. She holds a master’s degree in international development from Johns Hopkins SAIS and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado.
