Philipp is the Technology, Media & Telecommunications leader in Core Business Operations, Deloitte Consulting Africa. With 15 years’ work experience across four different continents and twelve years in management consulting focusing on the TMT industry. Over seven years of exposure in the African markets focussing on strategy, cost optimisation and business transformation. He is interested in building digital eco systems and supporting African executives and government officials in creating sustainable businesses and economic growth.
Philipp held the Managing Director Africa position for a German boutique TMT consulting firm for 3 years and was part of the Global Executive Board. His passion for the industry and experience in supporting top management in the industry provides a rounded profile to advice on TMT matter across the board.
Philipp started his career in the In-house Consulting of Deutsche Telekom Group and has led multiple cost transformation projects resulting in multi-billion Euro saving for the Group. In 2012 he joined Detecon in South Africa, a TMT boutique consulting and he provided program management expertise in network, IT and strategic matters at the major MNOs in South Africa and other African countries. He grew the M&A advisory capacity of the local team and helped investment firms and banks to identify and validate their TMT investment strategies as well as led Due Diligences on these identified targets.
In his leadership capacity as Managing Director he coordinated large cross-country projects and focused on new business development within the areas of strategy, post-merger integration, future networks advisory and Org transformation. He has led TMT companywide initiatives for technology transformation that also required strong understanding of new Organisation requirements and the establishment of customer journeys as well as new go-to-market plays.
Over the last few years he has invested significant time in understanding the application of AI, machine learning and cognitive analytics to provide the industry leaders with impactful applications for the TMT industry. Major cases include tower deployment optimisation, customer journey, fraud detection and others.
