“Mobile broadband is the fastest-growing segment in the African telecoms market. We expect this segment to pass the 100 million subscriptions mark in 2013 on the back of more HSPA network rollouts, a constant decline in device prices and further segmentation in data tariffs. HSPA is to remain the dominant mobile broadband technology over the next five years. Very few operators have started planning an LTE strategy as LTE deployment in Africa is mostly pending on issuing of spectrum.”
