Vino Govender is Executive: Strategy, Mergers & Acquisition and Innovation at DFA – the premier provider of wholesale, open-access fibre connectivity in South Africa.
A Chartered Marketer (SA), Vino’s career in the ICT industry spans approximately 21 years. He has filled key strategic B2C and B2B marketing roles at some of the country’s leading fixed-line operators, mobile operators, ISPs, ICT vendors, and research and analysis organisations.
During his career, he led go-to-market-strategy formulation and execution in companies such as Altech, SABMiller, MTN South Africa, Vodacom, and Nokia Siemens Networks. This afforded him the opportunity to gain extensive experience in designing, developing, and commercializing enterprise-customer value propositions across multi-industry marketing channels.
Vino joined Dark Fibre Africa in January 2015 as Executive: Marketing, Brand, and Communications and his portfolio expanded in March 2017 to include product innovation.
His current role focusses on formulating and devising strategy for sustainable growth while creating value for the company’s stakeholders. He is responsible for a number of portfolios including corporate strategy, strategic sales and business development, product management and innovation, marketing, brand and communications, and research and development.
Vino also serves on the Board of SqwidNet, a DFA subsidiary in the IoT space and the only Sigfox-licensed operator in South Africa as well as on the Board of SADV.
Vino has used his wealth of experience to share industry insights through published market reports on converged solutions, corporate ICT adoption, and mobile consumer application adoption. He is also an expert member of Coleman Research International where he both leads and contributes to research projects related to the ICT sector.
Vino earned a BTech Marketing from the University of Johannesburg before going on to obtain a Telecomms Mini MBA from Informica and a Master of Business Administration from Wits University. Vino is currently pursuing a Masters in Management: ICT Policy and Regulation.
His designation as Chartered Marketer (SA) with the Marketing Association of South Africa has seen him play an active role as an accredited RPL assessor and subcommittee member on their marketing board.
