MAX is a mobility platform for urban transport and hyperlocal delivery in Africa. MAX uses mobile apps and adaptive-tests (based on machine-learning) to organize motorcycle taxis into an on-demand transportation and logistics workforce for businesses, commuters and consumers. MAX was founded at MIT in 2015, and is a Techstars New York alumnus. In the last year, MAX has grown delivery volumes from 100 to more than 400 deliveries a day and have on-boarded 120 professional riders. MAX has achieved over $1,000,000 in gross merchandise volume (GMV). To date they have completed over 70,000 deliveries, on-boarded over 1500 small businesses and launched 3 products:
• MAX Now (Mobile Web) - On-demand delivery for consumers and businesses
• MAX Eats (Android) - Online restaurant marketplace and food delivery
• MAX Hub - Last-mile delivery for online marketplaces and large companies
They are just about to launch their 4th product: MAXGo - West Africa's first motorcycle hailing app. MAX have raised over $900k in funding from a range of investors, most notably Techstars, Locke Mountain Ventures, VGG (Greenhouse Capital) and Blue Rinc Capital I.
