Profile

Kiringai, is a practicing farmer and the Programme Lead in the Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition (GODAN)’s South-South Programme on agricultural transformation through farmer driven data sourcing and agribusiness development. He has formulated localized FarmHubs for farmers to aggregate their resources for investment in cooperative driven food stores, extension, and standards enforcement in production. To link the FarmHub actions to markets, he has also formulated the FoodHubs at the consumer-end to help aggregate resources for investment in food-stores and for consumer orders to trigger FarmHub supplies. The linkage is managed through a Blockchain platform to ensure that data sourcing from the producers to the consumers helps monitor food supply efficiencies.

His training and focus is the promotion of experiential learning that supports preparedness for learners to support grassroots capacity building at the nexus of ICT and Agriculture. GODAN's P4CDA has jointly with GODAN's global partners formulated the Center for Agriculture and Nutrition, Data Analytics and Innovation for Policy Impact (CANDAI). CANDAI integrates Nutrition, Health, Education and Agriculture though Data Sourcing and SME development though the adoption of CANDAI's Therapeutic Nutrition framework supported through the P4CDA model of FarmHubs and FoodHubs integrated to the the blended Social Impact Investment paradigms that promote private, public investment thinking, that promotes sustainable Agricultural SMEs.

Kiringai’s role in GODAN is to actualize the commitments that GODAN made to the Ministers of the South-South in Nairobi at the GODAN Conference 2017 when the Nairobi Declaration was made. It is out of the Declaration that the idea of a South-South initiative was mooted and Kiringai tasked to formulate the capacity building agenda by GODAN to address the commitment, whereupon the P4CDA was registered as a not for profit global South-South Secretariat. P4CDA promotes collaboration with like-minded professionals from Africa and globally, in the data value chain subsector, to create ecosystems for evidence based decision through sustainable development across food systems linked sectors. He is a practicing consultant and Scholar, who infuses practical value chain analysis and knowledge management, with agricultural economics. He is a practicing farmer who integrates practical Value Chain driven agriculture, from where his value chain ICT4D/ICT4Ag Agribusiness, FarmHubs and FoodHubs at the farm and consumer levels derive.

He has been an advisor to the Agricultural Transformation Office (ATO) in Kenya on Data Sourcing and Agribusiness and the Global Telecentre Network Agribusiness Expert for Telecenter.org. He has for many years practiced mentoring in small business development, as well as a collaborative researcher on the impacts of farmer owned agribusinesses to wealth creation.
