Sibongiseni Tunzelana Thotsejane
Digital Innovator at FlavaLite Innovations


Dr Sibongiseni Tunzelana Thotsejane worked in both the corporate sector and in academia. She completed her PhD in Information Systems at the University of Cape Town (UCT) on the topic of “Web Analytics strategy: a model for adopting and implementing advanced Web Analytics”. She is doing Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA): Higher Education Management (HEM) with the University of Bath in the United Kingdom (UK). She is a Digital Innovator and a Visionary Leader at FlavaLite Innovations and LoveOlution. Dr Sibongiseni Tunzelana is a co-editor of a book called Big Data Analytics for Improved Healthcare that will be published at the end of 2017 by IGI Global, United States of America (USA).

Dr Sibongiseni Tunzelana Thotsejane completed her Masters Degree majoring in E-business, Information & Knowledge Management and E-commerce on the subject of “E-commerce adoption barriers in SMMEs in the Tourism sector”. She did research at Telkom Bellville for one year with Mr. Eric Pretorius for my BTech: Information Technology studies. She received an award (Dean’s Prize) at the Cape Technikon for the research regarding convergence of IT, Media and Telecommunications. She has worked for Increase Network Solutions in Holland as a Programmer. She lectured System analysis and design and networking for more than four years. She lectured Research Methodology (practical sessions) to BTech: IT students. 

Dr Sibongiseni Tunzelana Thotsejane has participated in consultative conferences and leadership workshops for NACI (National Advisory Council on Innovation) and SET4W (Science, Engineering and Technology for Women). SET4W advises the Minister of Science and Technology on matters pertaining to women in SET (Science, Engineering and Technology). SET4W has commissioned research in South Africa on this issue. The consultative initiatives culminate in a gender equity policy for the SET sector, providing the basis for progress in mainstreaming gender issues within Science, Engineering and Technology. She has volunteered as an IT Specialist at the Provincial Government Information Technology Office (PGITO), Premier’s office, in Bhisho during Technikon recess. She assisted with compiling ICT related policies.

Dr Sibongiseni Tunzelana Thotsejane has completed a program by Innovation Hub and Maxum in collaboration with the University of Baltimore in the United States of America (USA) for a developmental program for Women in ICT. She has done some research on Innovation at Google Incorporated, at Silicon Valley in San Francisco. Dr Sibongiseni Tunzelana has been invited by Ryerson University in Canada by the Institute for Innovation and Technology Management in the area of Internet Analytics and has successfully completed the visit in 2009 under the Supervision of Professor Ojelanki Ngwenyama. She participated as an Information Systems PhD Student on an exchange program to Finland by the South African and Finnish Partnership in ICT and Innovation. She completed the exchange program successfully. She has ability and a gift to lead. She has been awarded a community builder award by the eMfuleni community in Cape Town. She mentors women , young people in IT, post graduates, artists and entrepreneurs.
