Kimmo Pentikäinen is changing again the future – this time together with 5G and AI technology. He is currently Vice President in Elisa Corporation. The leading telecommunications, ICT and online service company in a country with the highest mobile data usage per capita in the world. In 2018 Elisa Corporation provided world’s first 5G in commercial environment. Kimmo is nowadays responsible for 5G new service development, where co-creating services together with startups have a key role. Kimmo has been for last ten years a change leader in the company, including to establish strategy and operations for artificial intelligence capabilities. As a result, nowadays the company has fully automatized network operations with reduced incidents 50% in four years. Beside AI operations, Kimmo has established systematic process for partnering with startups and nowadays the company negotiates with 600+ startups a year and has 110+ startup partnerships. He has been responsible for research at the company and created a network of 1400+ scientists around the world with focus on strong AI research for renewing organisation's core competences and strategy. In 2012-2016 Kimmo was responsible for developing technology operations and created real time tracking of strategy deployment with an objective for establish mode of operations to be best in quality and cost efficiency among telecommunication service providers. As a result, the company has achieved in 2015-2018 each year best financial results ever and 2014-2018 EBITDA +34%. In 2019 the company received The Finnish Quality Award signed by President of Finland. Kimmo’s background is as a past startup entrepreneur, he has a M.A. degree in philosophy from University of Helsinki, another degree from Lahti Design Institute and researched philosophy as a visiting scholar at University of California, Berkeley.
