Raj joined techUK (UK trade association for the digital technology industries) in September 2010. In his role, he provides industry co-ordination on a wide range of matters in digital communications, from online child safety to regulatory and policy issues in fixed, wireless and satellite networks and spectrum. In response to a request by the UK Government, he established the UK Spectrum Policy Forum which is intended to be a cross-industry ‘sounding board’ to Government and Ofcom on future approaches on spectrum allocation and regulation. Prior to this, as a Senior Civil Servant at the UK Government Department for Business, Innovation and Skills he was Director for UK Space Policy. Previously, at the Radiocommunications Agency (now Ofcom), he had responsibility for policy and licensing operations for various wireless services. He spent his early career in the communications and space industries where his roles included those of Chief Technologist at M/A-Com Ltd and Senior Programme Manager at Matra-Marconi Space Ltd. He has an MBA (Imperial College) and a B.Eng degree in electronic engineering (Sheffield University).
