Pieter Viljoen received his Master’s Degree (MSc) in Physics from the University of Port Elizabeth in 1996. In 1996 he joined Corning Incorporated as an Applications Engineer and in 1999 he joined Corning Limited in Whales, UK as Applications Engineering and Development Manager.
In 2016 he joined Yangtze Optical Fiber and Cable Joint Stock Company (YOFC) as CEO of Yangtze Optica Africa Holding and Yangtze Optics Africa Cable (YOA Cable) a joint venture between YOFC and Mustek Limited. In 2021 He returned to South Africa and Joined Aberdare Cables optical fibre network division as General Manager: Technical a position he hold until the merger between Aberdare Telecom Networks and African Telecom Cables where in 2007 he was appointed Director Technical and Risk. Pieter Viljoen has overseen the construction of numerous production plants in South Africa, including the YOA Cable optical fibre cable production facility in Dube Trade Port, KZN in 2016 and subsequent expansion of the production facility to a new plant in 2023.
Pieter Viljoen has more than 28 years’ experience in the production, technical development and sales of optical fibre cable solutions both in the international and local market.
