Chris Rice is the CEO of STL Access Solutions.  STL Access Solutions is U.S. based company dedicated to open, software-defined networking solutions at the edge of the network, covering both fiber and 5G. Solutions from the business unit range from 5G radio hardware, RAN Intelligent Controllers, broadband access systems, and software systems.

Previously serving as the Senior Vice President -- Network Infrastructure and Cloud, AT&T Services, Inc., Chris Rice left AT&T in August of 2020 after 25 years of service to pursue new opportunities in creating open cloud-native SDN solutions and systems and making these more consumable and deployable for Telecommunication companies.

During his tenure at AT&T, Chris was instrumental in leading the research and development behind a software-centric network. He was responsible for not only leading AT&T, but the industry as a whole into this next generation network.  He and his team made advancements in networking and IP network management, network virtualization, big data, information systems and visualization, algorithms and optimization and scalable, reliable software systems.  His vision, dedication and leadership were instrumental in setting the standard and direction for many of the software-defined network, information systems platforms and open-source based ecosystems that AT&T and the global industry utilizes today. He has deep knowledge, broad domain experience and a proven track-record of deploying highly scaled telecommunications systems and infrastructure.

During his career, Chris was awarded over 90 patents and in 2005, was the recipient of the AT&T Distinguished Scientist Award.  He holds an BSEE / MSEE from Virginia Tech, an MBA from University of Central Florida and a graduate certificate from Rutgers University in Wireless Information Networks.
