Timothy CulverProfessor at University of Texas at Dallas
Timothy Culver is a lecturer at the University of Texas. He developed the SDN/NFV curriculum for the computer science department. He started the SDN/NFV class back in 2015 and modified it with the book the book on SDN that he, Dr. Goransson, and Black co-authored in October 2016. He also created a certification course on SDN/NFV for professionals where they can earn a certificate in SDN/NFV from the University of Texas at Dallas. He has had over 1,000 students go through the course. He created a lab for SDN at UT Dallas and have been part of two National Science Foundation grants. One is a lab using OpenROAD with UT Dallas, Orange, Verizon, AT&T, Ciena, and Fujistu participating. I have attached a paper on it. The other NSF grant is for he,Dr. Sarac, and Haas to develop a security curriculum for SDN. UT Dallas is currently the 3rd largest computer science program in the U.S. with 2,800 undergraduates, 1,300 masters, and 145 Ph.D. students in the computer science program. He has over 30 years experience in telecommunications and work with wireless and wireline carriers across 14 countries. He has patents in VoIP, Internet teleconferencing, and LDAP. He has also contributed to the Open Networking Foundation and MEF certification exams for SDN/NFV.
