Troy Saulnier leads strategy and end to end architecture for Bell Canada’s network transformation. This involves architecture alignment across domains and leveraging emerging technology to disrupt and accelerate transformation. Virtualization of network functions (VNFs), network simplification and automation are key themes in this journey. He provides leadership for Central Offices to Data Centres (CO-DC) conversion, workload mobility and the push to move from virtual machine based to containerized functions. To support VNFs beyond the DC, universal Customer Premise Equipment (uCPE) solutions are essential. SR, 5G and Wireless to the Home (WTTH) provide opportunities for wireless and wireline convergence. Network service orchestration is being built with Open Network Automation Platform (ONAP). Hardware and software disaggregation, wireless and wireline convergence and open source are levers used to instigate change. With 20 years at Bell, Troy has held a number of roles primarily in technology, R&D and strategy. In a previous role he provided the strategy to extend the Fibre to the Home (FTTH) network to the majority of their locations.Troy holds an MEng in Internetworking from Dalhousie University and a MSc in Computer Science from Acadia University. He is based out of Halifax, NS, Canada.
