Yasmin Karimli is a highly accomplished technology and operations executive with a history of delivering exceptional results, driving innovation and profitability, building effective partnerships worldwide, and inspiring teams to produce industry-best, cutting-edge technology solutions. Throughout her career, she has established a reputation for building positive cultures that emphasize teamwork, innovation, success, staff retention, and diversity.
Ms. Karimli earned a BS in Electrical Engineering (1993) and an MS in Electrical Engineering (1995) from the University of Washington, and has more than 80 patents to her credit. She is also a published author, an accomplished public speaker on technology, technology leadership, and other topics, and a frequent advisor to corporate C-levels and universities.
In her current position, Yasmin oversees product development, Big Data analytics, network strategy and evolution, and innovation for T-Mobile USA, a $265B telecom giant. Since 2015, she has led the design and delivery of multiple apps to enhance customer experience, directed the development of new technologies adopted at the global level, and contributed to growth, adoption, and market penetration by incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud solutions. Her role includes extensive partnering and negotiating with device and chipset manufacturers, and telecom operators, in the US, Germany, Korea, China, and Taiwan. She serves as an advisor to corporate officers regarding technology strategy, program development, and mergers and acquisition, and she played a key role in the successful merger of T-Mobile with Metro PCS and Sprint.
Yasmin also contributed to dramatic revenue growth at T-Mobile by building a 5G network incubation program focusing on startup organizations, establishing partnerships to incorporate 5G capability in smart connected wearables, compute platforms, smart homes and cities, and augmented and virtual reality, and and launching critical sustainability and modernization initiatives. In addition, she has prepared and delivered numerous presentations to the Board.
From 2001 to 2015, Yasmin was a Manager/Principal Engineer and Senior Manager/Director of Network Evolution & Strategy with T-Mobile. In these roles, she planned and led the design and deployment of advanced features for T-Mobile’s network. Her work facilitated the first launch of Voice over LTE with HD quality, state-of-the-art network features that minimized costs while increasing capacity, and best-in-class customer experience programs.
Her work earned her recognition for superior performance in engineering and leadership, in part thanks to evaluating disruptive technologies and identifying new, profitable uses for emerging technologies. She also established and led a new device organization with the Engineering unit and worked closely with infrastructure vendors and device/chipset manufacturers to ensure specification and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining T-Mobile USA, Yasmin held the positions of Technology Strategy & Cellular Systems Engineer at Verizon Wireless, AirTouch, and US Wes NewVector Group, where she carried out complex cellular network design and deployment, and spearheaded new technology planning.
