Senior Vice President, Domain 2.0 Architecture & Design at AT&T Labs
Chris Rice is responsible for delivering the architecture and design of AT&T's software-centric network. This transformation uses software-defined networking and network function virtualization to deliver products and services to the customer. Prior to this role, he was Vice President of AT&T Labs, leading the research and advanced development for the software-centric network. He oversaw advancements in networking and IP network management; network virtualization; big data; speech and multimedia technologies; information systems and visualization; algorithms and optimization; and scalable, reliable software systems. He holds over 60 patents, and in 2005, he received the AT&T Distinguished Scientist Award. Since joining AT&T in 1995, Chris has contributed expertise and focus on wireless and broadband communication systems. He worked on satellite and broadband data communication systems. He also led development efforts for a digital radio-based, pico-cellular base-station, which provided in-building, mobile voice communication on standard cellular phones.
