Women in Comms Luncheon

Monday, May 15, 2017 | 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Breakout Room #8, 3rd Floor, Austin Convention Center

If there's one thing that's certain about the future of technology, it's that women will play a huge part in it.

The intersection of technology and people is what makes our industry tick. And, it's not just those technologies shaping our personal and professional lives today, but especially those that will have an impact in the future. Changes in technology and promises of advancement are creating new roles and opportunities for women in the industry. At the same time, they're also raising some justified concerns: Will artificial intelligence replace or enhance jobs; perpetuate or alleviate stereotypes? Will 5G deliver on the hype? Will hardware make a comeback, or is the future all software?

As Women in Comms returns to Austin, Texas, for its second one-day conference ahead of the Big Communications Event, we are thrilled to be joined by our more than 40 member companies and 12 impressive senior-level executives who will share their experiences, advice and perspective on the future of technology and women's evolving role in the industry.

Through two keynote address and two lively panel discussions, we will get the perspective of leading telecom vendors, as well as women in the C-suite at service providers from across the globe. Intertwined with our tech discussion, we'll focus on how to be prepared for the future in your own career, including what skills to develop and how, what technologies to bet on, how to predict where the industry is going and more. There will also be plenty of time to answer all of your questions during our laid-back, interactive panel discussions.

As always, this free event will provide both an informal setting for women in the industry to meet and network over lunch and a forum to exchange ideas, learn and grow. Light Reading and members of Women in Comms are hosting this networking event on May 15, ahead of The Big Communications Event.

The free event will be open to all women and men in the telecommunications, STEM and IT fields.
