SCTE, Society for Broadband Professionals
Founded in 1945, the SCTE (Society for Broadband Professionals) is a Learned Society and non-profitmaking organisation aiming to raise the standard of broadband engineering in the global telecommunications industry. It particularly concerns itself with the training/career advancement of technical professionals, awarding accreditation and certification for its members.
SCTE training courses have achieved wide acceptance as the standard for young technicians wishing to enter the field of cable telecommunications and for those wishing to advance their knowledge and career prospects. The SCTE also publishes its quarterly Broadband technical journal, which reaches over 7000 global broadband professionals.
The SCTE stages lecture meetings throughout the year in the UK and at selected European venues (including IBC in The Netherlands). It chairs the British Standards Committee for cable systems and represents the UK at European (CENELEC) and world (IEC) levels.
