Breakfast Workshop: What Still Stands in UHD’s Way?
Tuesday, March 21 | 7:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.
What Still Stands in UHD's Way
Over the past couple of years, the format of true ultra HD (UHD) video has emerged from the premature launch of 4K-ready TVs and limited 4K content to come on strong as the promising next big wave of video service. Consumer sales of compatible TV sets and UHD Blu-ray discs are climbing steadily; broadcasters, pay-TV and OTT video providers have started making UHD programming available; and the technical standards of HDR and other enhancements are maturing fast.
But several major obstacles remain, including the high-bandwidth demands of UHD, the still-limited amount of UHD content and the drumbeat for a higher standard of revenue protection on these premium services. Will consumers rapidly adopt and embrace this next-gen video service? In this special breakfast panel, we will tackle these issues and more to gauge the prospects for the UHD transition.
Passes for What Still Stands in UHD's Way are only available to employees of Cable Operators or Service Providers. The workshop can be added onto any Cable Next-Gen pass.
Breakfast & Registration Opens at 7:15 a.m.
