Women in Comms Breakfast Workshop: Mentoring Matters
Wednesday, March 22, 2017 | 7:00 a.m. - 8:50 a.m.
The Hopscotch Room, 3rd Floor, The Curtis Hotel
It's professional advice you've likely heard a million times before:
Find a mentor to help you navigate the workforce and a sponsor to ensure you keep moving up the ladder. It's great advice – mentors and sponsors are crucial for everyone, but especially for women in the comms industry – but it's also often easier said than done. As frequently as Women in Comms hears advice about mentoring, we also receive questions about how to actually go about identifying a mentor, fostering a mutually advantageous relationship and nurturing it throughout your career.
For this networking breakfast, WiC's third in Denver, we will hear from top female executives in the comms industry on all mentoring matters – how to find one within your organization, how to be one in addition to your day job and more. Our speakers, who have benefited from having mentors in their careers and make it a priority to “pay it forward,” will also share their experiences and advice. And, we'll discuss resources to start a formal mentoring program, tips for doing so informally and advice for men who play an important role as well. There will also be plenty of time to answer all of your questions during our laid-back, interactive panel discussion.
As always, this free event will provide both an informal setting for women in the industry to meet and network over breakfast and a forum to exchange ideas, learn and grow. Light Reading and members of Women in Comms are hosting this breakfast and networking event on March 22, ahead of day two of the Cable Next-Gen Technologies & Strategies conference at the Curtis Hotel in Denver.
The free event will be open to all women and men in the telecommunications, STEM and IT fields.
