Ali Katkhada was appointed as the Group Chief Information Officer of Depa Group on Jan 16 2007. Prior to, he was leading teams in Oregon, US in building applications for federal government and private sectors.
Mr. Katkhada has more than fifteen years of experience in IT strategy, IT governance & compliance, IT security, business transformation & process automation, IT infrastructure & operations along with a multitude of successful ERP and CRM implementations. Mr. Katkhada is also a keynote speaker in many global IT conferences and universities and was ranked among Top Global CIOs for 2015.
Mr Katkhada holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering and Technology Management from Portland State University, USA. In addition to his Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering and Diploma in Radio communication, he is an Oracle Certified Professional 2002 and also holds certifications in ITIL and PMP from the Project Management Institute.

How important is Cloud right now for your company and for the construction industry in general?
Cloud is a game changer concept for running the IT operation for Depa, we have adopt and moved many of our services to Cloud, Construction industry is very unique and need IT solutions that are agile, flexible, effective and on remote and Cloud concept address all these requirements while reducing the operation cost and improve the security level very well
You will be speaking at the Cloud MENA event this year about Cloud in construction between the Middle East and Europe - Could you tell us a bit more about what you plan to share and speak about in your presentation?
In the Middle east there are no clear regulations governing the Cloud services and it kept to the judgement of each company to implement whatever provides the suitable level of comfort, however in Europe the new data protection law The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years - will come to effective 25 of May 2018 all companies that operate in EU should carefully look into this matter
