Chief Operating Officer at Girl Effect
Claire Tavernier is the Chief Operating Officer of Girl Effect, a non-profit foundation which aims to change social norms for girls in developing countries through media and digital brands.
Prior to Girl Effect, Claire spent 20 years in senior roles in the digital media sector, working with both large media conglomerates and young digital start-ups. From 2001 to 2012, Claire was the global head of digital for international television producer FremantleMedia, where she oversaw worldwide digital activations of Idol, Got Talent, X Factor, Price is Right and Family Feud, set up an original online production operation and negotiated and managed major commercial partnerships with YouTube and others. Until 2015, she was Managing Director of ChannelFlip, one of the original UK-based YouTube multi-channel networks, steering it to high revenue growth, diversification and profitability. She also ran her own consultancy, StoryTechLife, working with clients such as Sky, Turner Broadcasting, Channel 4 and Spotify. Claire is a non-executive director of online talent discovery network Instrumental and is on the board of the UK organisation WomenInGamesJobs, working for the promotion of women in the gaming industry. She is a multiple award winner for her TV and digital productions.
