Why charity partnerships matter to us
Creating meaningful partnerships is greatly important to us at East Africa Com. Our purpose is to equip and inspire people to design, build and run a better, more inclusive digital world; accelerating the socio-economical development across East Africa and the continent as a whole.
We want to go further and inspire the sustainable development of the industry we serve. By partnering with significant charities, we can connect people with the relevant networks and knowledge at our event, helping them to develop and solve some of the biggest challenges across the region. We are proud to have partnered in the past with charities Kolisi Foundation and Ingressive for Good, and to be a partner with Kami Limu and Camara Africa for East Africa Com 2023.

Camara Africa
Camara Education is a non-profit international educational organisation dedicated to delivering real impact through technology by inspiring and empowering a young generation to improve their own life opportunities. Founded in 2005 in Dublin, Ireland, Camara has built a proven model of 'education delivery' that is both sustainable and scalable. Camara is a registered charity in the US, Ireland and the UK and currently operates four non profit Education Hubs in Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia and Tanzania). All Hubs aim to meet the needs of the local education sector working alongside relevant technical support to ensure the maximum impact for students. Since inception, Camara Education has enabled over 4 million young people across Africa to access and benefit from computers within their schools which helps ensure they have the digital skills required in our increasingly digital world.
Camara's model focuses on building partnerships with businesses and global corporates who donate IT equipment they no longer need and use. Our certified ITAD partners then collect, wipe and where possible refurbish the equipment so that it can be sold to generate funds for purchasing more computers and implementing projects or shipped to our African hubs where it is installed in schools.
