Daniel MurenziPrincipal Information Technology Officer at East African Community
Daniel Murenzi is Principal Information Technology Officer for the East African Community (EAC). He is a seasoned computer Engineer and holds an MSc Communication Management with more than 14 years in developing and implementing ICT projects in areas of enterprise architecture and e-government projects (Health, Finance, Agriculture, trade, customs, cyber security systems).
Prior to that he was an e-Health and Informatics officer for EAC, implementing key regional integration projects in the Health Sector. Daniel also served at Ministry of Health Rwanda as the Director of ICT where he provided strategic direction and effective management of the Health Information Systems (HIS) and Information and ICT resources to achieve the mission of the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Daniel is a member of several technical steering committees at national, regional (EAC) and international level for implementation of cyber security, a regional ICT working group, and e-health applications (Open MRS, DHIS 2, iHRS).
Daniel is a board member of several regional and international boards, including the Cyber Security Initiative, ID4D and the advisory board of African Centre for eHealth Excellence (Acfee). He is also part of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Policy Fellow and ISOC fellow
