Mariam Tendou KamaraSenior Expert - Strategic Partnerships & Communications at United Nations
Born to a father from Guinea and a mother from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mariam Tendou KAMARA is a US trained pharmacist, a senior expert for the United Nations Institutional Partnerships, Strategic communications and Resource Mobilization. She is the founder and Managing Director of Baantou and MadameDigital, where she heads several programs on digital inclusion and digital literacy and the economic empowerment of women and youth. Her work over the past 15 years has focused on building bridges and strengthening access to new technologies and trends to build collaborates spaces which will provide capacity building services and support benefit geared at empowering women and young girls in West and Central Africa region and the Continent.
Ms. Kamara is the Co-Founder and Board member of WAFRICA (Women of Africa), a guinea-based NGO working on advancing women’s rights for women and girls. She holds a B.Sc/ B.Pharm degree from Northeastern University (Boston, USA) and is the former regional communications and partnerships portfolio manager for UN Women (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment) regional office for West/Central Africa. She held several roles and functions in the public and development sector as cabinet member and technical advisor for Strategic Partnerships for the Ministry of Youth Employment in the Guinea Republic. She also served as member of the Country Coordinating Mechanism for the Global Fund against AIDS Tuberculosis and Malaria for the international NGO sector in Guinea.
As a strategist-in-chief, Mariam Tendou has worked over the years with key national, regional and international institutions, in the development, private and public sectors to promote the African development agenda through several initiatives such as Master No Fear, Elles’Coaching or the Dia’fin High level dialogues hosted on Financial and Digital Inclusion by the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea. She currently lives and resides in Dakar, Senegal.
