Michael Murungi is Google's Lead for Government Affairs and Public Policy in Eastern Africa.
He is a manager with expertise in public policy, government relations, ICT law and law reporting. In his current role, he contributes to better policy and law making for the ICT sector and helps shape Google's programs and policies to contribute to East Africa's growth and digital transformation.
He is formerly the CEO of Kenya's National Council for Law Reporting (www.kenyalaw.org), a state corporation in the Judiciary that is the official publisher of the Laws and Law Reports of Kenya. He was also one of Africa's ICT Legal Experts taking part in UNESCO's Economic Commission for Africa's CODIST initiative where he made key contributions on the formulation of an appropriate legal regime for the information society.
Michael is a published author on Cybercrime and was at one time Kenya's designated contributor to the International Encyclopaedia of Cyberlaw. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree and Master of Laws in ICT Law both from the University of Nairobi.
