Muthoni has a proven leadership track record at executive and board level and 15+ years experience gained in Africa, Europe and North America in corporates such as Merrill Lynch, Safaricom and American Express; high-growth startups such as JUMO and MarketForce; and impact-focused organisations such as Engineers Without Borders, Canada. In 2009, she left a lucrative investment banking career in London and moved back to Kenya to become the co-founder of a social enterprise. In 2015, she made the transition from FinTech operator to impact investor. And in 2019, she was recognised as one of 12 venture capitalists to know in Africa, and the only black woman on the list. She now advises Corporates, Venture Funds and Startup Founders on Investment Strategy, Corporate Development, Board Governance, Investor Relations and Communications. She is a leading voice in venture investing as featured in Forbes, Impact Alpha, Disrupt Africa and VentureBurn; and a visiting lecturer on diversity, equity and inclusion at the University of Cape Town’s Bertha Centre for Social Innovation.
