Profile

Kyte is a tech platform for airline distribution.

Today, 60% of all flights are sold via third party channels and not directly on airline websites – e.g. online travel agencies, corporate booking tools etc. For decades, airlines have been relying on legacy technology providers known as Global Distribution Systems (GDSs) to distribute to third parties. GDSs are expensive and inappropriate for today’s industry, underperforming on ancillary sales, an essential source of revenue for the industry’s profitability today.

The industry has been experiencing a paradigm further accelerated by the covid crisis. Airlines had started to build their own APIs (following a standard known as NDC - New distribution capability) to gain a direct commercial relationship with travel agencies, bypass GDS costs and upsell more ancillaries.

Direct integrations with each airline, however is unsustainable for both agencies and airlines as it requires technical skills, time and resources.

Kyte is a new distribution platform making airline content more accessible and faster to implement. Kyte integrates with each airline API and provides a unified output for agents who can easily replicate flights and ancillaries with one single integration.

Aggregators – e.g. Travelfusion, Duffel etc. are somewhat misaligned with airlines objectives as they are mainly focused on delivering the minimal viable product, flights with no ancillaries,

Kyte has a different business model where airlines are the customer and is heavily focused on ancillaries whilst allowing airlines to maintain control of their commercial relationships with the agencies. Effectively we are creating the benefits of a direct connect without the overheads of each individual integration.
