Santanu Vasant
Head of the Centre for Excellence for Teaching and Learning, at University of East London


Santanu Vasant is currently Head of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at the University of East London where he manages a small team of academic developers and learning technology advisers and administrators. Prior to this, he was Senior Learning Technology Adviser at the University of East London, an Educational Technologist at the Department for Learning Enhancement and Development (LEaD) at City, University of London and before this Learning Technology Coordinator for Organisational and Staff Development at Imperial College and a Learning Technology Adviser in the Learning and Teaching Development Unit at Brunel University. Santanu has over 15 years’ experience in Education, including as an ICT Teacher in north-west London.

He has also been a governor of the Northwood School, Hillingdon, north-west London from 2010-2018. He has a degree in Multimedia Technology and Design (BSc Hons), a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in ICT Secondary Education from Brunel University and a Masters (MA) in ICT in Education from UCL’s Institute of Education. He is also a journal reviewer for the Association for Learning Technology and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Santanu has worked on a number of projects around the adoption and use of technology enhanced learning and learning and teaching policy, processes and practices. He has a keen interest in Learning Spaces in Higher Education.
