Raphael Kiesel

Head of Department at RWTH Aachen University

Raphael Kiesel studied Industrial Engineering and Management with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, as well as Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He worked at Fraunhofer IPT Aachen from 2017 to 2020 as a research associate and group leader in the area of "Networked Production IT". Since 2021, he has headed the Quality Intelligence department at the WZL. His thematic focus is on digitalization of production, predictive quality, data-based sustainability management and plastics recycling. His PhD thesis deals with the economic evaluation of 5G in production.
