Ann Minton is the University of Derby’s Academic Lead for Apprenticeships. For the last ten years Ann has been involved in developing bespoke and innovative education solutions for a range of businesses and organisations to meet their higher educational needs. Ann developed the university’s award winning approach to the accreditation of in -company training, ensuring that it is proportionate, robust and business orientated and she has written about this for the HEA demonstrator projects (2010) and the 2012 EBTA publication “Making Employer and University Partnerships Work”, of which she was an editor. An enthusiastic advocate of work based learning, largely due to her own personal and professional development adopting this approach, Ann was granted the honorary title of “University Principal Tutor in Work Based Learning” at the University of Derby, for her work in developing education programmes that are based on the student’s own workplace experiences, both for individuals and cohorts for employers.
Ann was a member of the teams that won the THES Award in 2006 for the ‘Most Imaginative Use of Distance Learning’ and THES Award for Employer engagement in 2011.
