Fred WrightAssociate Lab Director and Principal Researcher at Georgia Tech
G.A. “Fred” Wright, PhD is recognized as an expert and researcher in cyber security. For the past two decades, he has focused on security issues and, in particular, the “innovation gap” between cyber threat capability and defensive technology. As a result, his research is focused on the most challenging problems in protecting enterprises. One example is critical data protection where robust, complex systems engineering approaches are needed to address architecture, defensive solutions, security operations, and policy.
At Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), Fred founded a cybersecurity incubator, which led to the formation of a major business unit devoted to research in protecting information systems including cyber-physical systems. Fred also focused on diversifying GTRI’s research business into the commercial sector, including Fortune 500 companies and start-ups.
Fred also serves as an adjunct professor in the Georgia Tech School of Computer Science. He led the development of Georgia Tech’s Professional Education Cyber Security Certificate Program and is currently a lead instructor.
