Gerald Kleyn leads the business unit that delivers the Edgeline Converged Edge Systems and Moonshot datacenter products providing customers with industry leading, specialized solutions for end-user workspaces, high-throughput data analytics, communications, media, defense and the industrial IoT.
Gerald joined HPE via Compaq as a firmware developer in 1997 and rotated through various R&D and business leadership roles. His experience spans products for small businesses, enterprise, high performance computing, hyperscale cloud service providers, telecommunications providers, and the emerging industrial IoT segments.
Gerald enjoys leading teams to deliver cutting edge systems to market that incorporate the latest technologies to enhance customer experiences through higher performance, new capabilities, lower cost, and lower power consumption. Gerald has led highly scalable platforms with deployments of >50,000 systems at numerous hyperscale and high performance computing installations. These include several Top500 and Green500 supercomputer systems and the world’s first FDR Infiniband cluster.
Gerald now leads the Converged Edge Systems business unit, new and uniquely converged platforms which integrate high performance analytics and manageability with industrial IoT connectivity and control to bring new levels of performance and security to customer’s edge operations technology application.
Gerald holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University, and an MBA from the Freeman Business School at Tulane University. He has four school aged children, enjoys distance running (13 completed marathons), is an active volunteer with Scouts BSA building youth into the next generation leaders, and a regular Adopt-a-Mile volunteer with his children.
