Kürşat Ceylan was born in 1986 in Ankara, Turkey. He is blind since birth, and he studied psychological counselling at Boğaziçi University. He had been in the US as an exchange student during his college years; he also met with YGA in these years. He applied to the YGA leadership program and was selected as one of the 50 participants out of 50.000 applicants. After his acceptance to the YGA leadership program, he volunteered on projects for the development of socioeconomic situation of the visually impaired. After his graduation, he worked at Roche while producing and hosting a radio show called "exploration of emotions that are suppressed by sight" weekly on NTV Radio, and he was awarded by Turkish Journalist Association. In 2015, he resigned from Roche and started working at YGA as the project leader for projects about the visually impaired. Ceylan won various global awards for his projects about the visually impaired such as indoor navigation for the visually impaired, audio description in movie theatres, and WeWALK Smart Cane:
