Avery Lu is Co-Founder, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) & Managing Director of Investments at ActionSpot Startup Studio, a Silicon Valley-based early stage startup incubator / co-working space helping build the next disruptive global technology companies.
Mr. Lu is deeply involved in the startup eco-system as an advisor/mentor/entrepreneur-in-residence at San Francisco/Silicon Valley technology incubators/accelerators/investment community, and has organized large industry symposiums, keynoted at global conferences and been quoted in multiple market research reports on IoT, Wearable Technology and AI.
Previously, Avery co-founded and served as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Palo Alto Scientific, a predictive/prescriptive sports analytics company building AI-based sports, fitness & wellness solutions to help users improve their technique to achieve their goal faster while reducing injuries. And, he recently co-founded and serves as Senior Director of Business Development, Marketing & Sales at WBGlobalSemi, a semiconductor company focused on commercializing very fast switching, very high power, very high efficiency and radiation tolerant SiC BJTs, drivers and power modules for next generation aerospace, main grid, micro-grid, traction and industrial solutions. Both companies have won numerous awards and have secured big name clients.
Mr. Lu also served as Vice President of Business Development, Marketing & Sales at Focus PDM (Products Designed to Market), an end to end product design company, where he was recruited to turn around the company with prospective investors/buyers to make it solvent and profitable again. Avery brought in an investor willing to close a $4M Series A round to bail out the company.
For most of his early career, Avery held various senior roles in business development, segment marketing, product marketing, global account management, and field applications engineering for semiconductor companies like NXP, Infineon, Toshiba, Winbond, Cypress Semiconductor and Xilinx, where he was responsible for a wide range of technologies addressing such vertical markets as mobile, tablet, computing, consumer electronics, industrial, telecom, utility, automotive, medical, and military working with Fortune 500 clients.
Mr. Lu serves on the board of directors of CASPA (Chinese American Semiconductor Professional Association) 華美半導體協會. He is a Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE) and former 2015-2016 Chair of the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society, Santa Clara Valley and Board member of the IEEE Women in Engineering, Santa Clara Valley. Avery also serves on the advisory boards of Santa Clara University’s Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship and UCSC Extension Silicon Valley’s Embedded Systems & VLSI Engineering, as well as senior executive peer groups like the C-Suite Network and The Peer 150.
Avery holds a B.S. Electrical Engineering degree from Santa Clara University with M.S. Electrical Engineering post-graduate work, as well as a Marketing Management Certificate from University of California, Santa Cruz(UCSC) Extension Silicon Valley.
