Dr. Christian Rose is a practicing emergency physician with a niche in information systems, decision support, design and blockchain technologies.
Christian’s background is at the intersection of clinical medicine, telemedicine and big data. He was a Chief Resident in Emergency Medicine at the University of California at San Francisco. Previously, he was a physician leader at the Human Diagnosis Project (Human Dx), an online system built by the world’s doctors that maps the best steps to help any patient. He also searched for new breast cancer genes using genomics and developed decision aids for breast cancer patients as a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow in Biomedical Informatics. Further, he implemented global health tele-medical services and emergency decision support tools with the WHO in Cape Town and Tanzania. He has published and presented work at international conferences on topics from molecular biology to wearables.
Christian grew up in the Hudson Valley of New York where he became interested in medicine at a young age while caring for his grandfather who suffered from congestive heart failure. There, he also experienced the difficulty of sharing medical information and accessing specialty care for those who live in rural areas. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Honors in Physics and Science, Technology and Society from Vassar and completed his M.D. from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons where he received the inaugural Donald Lindberg Award for Excellence in Medical Informatics.
