Myriota has developed an ultra low-cost remote Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity platform. The platform consists of small, inexpensive, low powered modules that can be integrated with a variety of sensors and devices. These modules transmit small amounts of data direct to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites which relay signals to a series of ground stations. The messages are then decoded by Myriota’s receiver software and presented to the end user or client.
Myriota’s solution differs from existing satellite technology by transmitting directly to satellite at ultra low cost, negating the need for expensive ground based infrastructure or gateways. Myriotas patented receiver software enables very large numbers of transmitters to transmit direct to satellite over small amounts of spectrum. No other satellite solution can provide this service at a price point that makes economic sense for small amounts of data. There is significant verifiable demand for this solution across multiple industries including agriculture, mining, asset monitoring, utilities monitoring, maritime, environmental monitoring, logistics and many others.
Myriota was founded in 2015 with seed funding of $2.5m and is commercialising technology developed over 5 years at the University of South Australia. Myriota has commenced commercial trials with several significant clients and will be raising further funds in 2017. Myriota expects to launch full commercial services in the next 12 months.
