James is a Principal at Downing Ventures, one of the UK’s most active early stage investors, where he leads ‘future of cities’ investments. This includes investing in transport, logistics, smart cities and real estate. Prior to Downing, James was part of the leadership team at InMotion Ventures, the Jaguar Land Rover backed VC fund. He led a number of deals spanning everything from autonomous vehicles to ride hailing and adventure travel. Before entering the world of venture capital, James worked in urban development and place making at the property company U+I - harnessing the power of technology to engage communities in the regeneration process.
