Jim Brisimitzis is the founder of the 5G Open Innovation Lab, a community partnership that fosters innovation in connectivity, edge computing and artificial intelligence. The Lab has worked with over 101 startups that have raised over $1.6B in venture capital and is backed by 18 global platforms, telecom, consulting, and enterprise leaders. With over 24 years of experience in business development, product management, strategic alliances and developer relations, Jim has worked with leading companies such as Bell Canada, Nortel Networks, PeopleSoft, Oracle and Microsoft.
Some of his achievements include:
- Launching and managing the Microsoft for Startups program in the US and Canada, engaging over 2,800 startups running on Azure
- Leading operations for Microsoft Ventures globally and creating the “HiPo” program for high-potential startups
- Developing the early prototypes for Microsoft Cloud Platform Solution (aka Azure Stack) and holding a patent for a predictive algorithm
- Being a Managing Partner for Quake Capital, a venture capital firm focused on early-stage startups
Jim holds a degree in Business Management from Trent University of Peterborough Ontario, Canada. He lives in Seattle WA with his family. He is passionate about helping entrepreneurs succeed and creating positive social impact through technology.
